Frequently Asked Questions

What is facial rejuvenation?

Acupuncture facial rejuvenation is a near painless procedure where tiny needles are placed at specific points on the body and the face to reduce signs of aging and promote even skin tone and texture. This non-surgical procedure dates back as far as the Song Dynasty (960-1279) in China and was sought out by those in the royal court and wealthy elite to maintain their beauty and longevity. Facial rejuvenation is a great option for anyone looking to keep that youthful healthy glow and reduce signs of aging in an affordable, safe and effective way. There is no recovery time after treatment and zero toxic chemicals are used! All topical products used at Courtney Rose acupuncture are plant based, natural and non-toxic, many of them are ancient Chinese herbal formulas ground into powders. Acupuncture facial rejuvenation utilizes the theories of Traditional Chinese Medicine to achieve outstanding and lasting results by not only treating the exterior, but working to balance your system internally as well.

What is it good for and how long do the results last?

Acupuncture facial rejuvenation is great for minimizing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, sagging, puffiness and darkness under the eyes. It also works to even skin tone and clear and prevent blemishes. The overall results are a brighter, glowing, more even complexion with increased tone to the skin.

With a proper at-home care, hydration and nutrition, results can last upwards of 4-7 years. It is recommended to come in for “tune-up” visits once per month to maintain results. Along with a routine western facial to slough off any dead skin.

How does it work?

Acupuncture facial rejuvenation works a number of ways. Through questioning and tongue and pulse diagnostics, each treatment is specialized to you.  At Courtney Rose acupuncture, we incorporate Japanese Meridian style acupuncture to achieve the best results. Through this style of treatment, a pair of two body points are selected as the “root treatment”. The main goal here is to balance out what would be considered to be the root of the cause of your signs and symptoms. Along with the root treatment, a small amount of body points are used to stimulate Qi and blood production and send it upwards to the face. There are also a number of points used locally on the face to stimulate collagen and elastin production, promote lymph drainage to eliminate waste and increase circulation bringing nutrients to the face. All of this helps to improve skin tone and texture, even out complexion and fill in fine lines and wrinkles.

What is a facial with Courtney Rose acupuncture like and how many will I need?

The initial treatment involves an intake to understand any imbalances in your system as well as what your main focus is. We will go over a brief health and beauty history which includes tongue and pulse diagnostics.  Treatment will begin with a small amount of body points to stimulate Qi and blood flow and production in the body. This will be followed by working on the face with a massage to stimulate local blood flow.   Next, 30-40 tiny needles are placed in the face in areas specific to your condition and set specific gemstones along each of the 7 chakras to achieve maximum alignment. We allow them to sit for 20 minutes and give time to yourself to relax. After the needles are removed, a hot compress is applied followed with a facial serum, a hydrating lotion and finally a neck and shoulder massage. Some sessions may include masks, gua sha, facial roller, and/or moxibustion heat therapy. While you will notice some results with just one session, it is recommended to do a series of 12 sessions twice per week to get the best results. For those who choose to do this, a customized treatment plan with dietary recommendations, recipes, and Chinese herbal recommendations will be included.

Are there other health benefits?

Yes! The great thing about getting acupuncture is that no matter what you come in for, the way we achieve results is to realign or balance out your whole system. While our main focus will be to send your Qi and blood to your face, we will be including body points that help to restore any imbalances that may be present and contributing to your health status. Many people will notice a general improvement in their overall well-being as well as feeling extra relaxed for days after their treatment.

Can I have cosmetic acupuncture if I’ve had a facelift or injections?

Yes! It is recommended to wait a few days post-op if you’ve had a face lift, but acupuncture can actually help to speed up the recovery process, reduce scar tissue formation, and improve your results leading to a more natural look. Acupuncture after botox injections will also help everything to settle more evenly, again resulting in a more natural look.
